The £50,000 Kids electric ride on car

Kids electric cars come in all shapes and sizes, but today we’re bringing you news of something truly unique and extra-special: a custom-built £50,000 kids electric car we created for the son of Prince Mishaal bin Talal bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud.

Just what does a £50,000 kids electric car look like? Well, when Prince Mishaal first approached us, we had no idea either. But after a lengthy design and consultation process, we’re ready to share with you some details of this incredible project.

We started with the chassis, the core of any vehicle. Prince Mishaal is the proud owner of a fleet of customised Mercedes G55 AMG SUVs, so what better basis for his son’s new wheels than our best-selling, top-of-the-line licensed G55 kids electric car? Of course, our custom job meant replacing much of the original bodywork with rhodium-trimmed aluminium panelling, which was a major job in itself. By the end, little of the original plastic remained, with even the dashboard being removed and upholstered with real naugahyde leather.

We also replaced the motors with precision-grade servo-assisted units usually used for military and aerospace applications, and the batteries with a specially-modified power system similar to that used in the Tesla Roadster. All wiring was replaced with gold cabling usually used in high-end stereo systems. The electrics were completely overhauled, and the Prince’s car even has on-board Sat-Nav, thanks to the iPad Mini set into the dashboard, linked with the young Prince’s Apple Watch, which can also be used to control the car thanks to a specially-designed app interface. The iPad also runs the sound system, through a specially-built set of speakers made by Duevel Sirius. These speakers alone cost over £6,000.

At this stage, the car was set to come in at around £38,000. With money left in the budget, we sent the steering wheel to a Mayfair jeweller for some extreme Saudi-style bling. The wheel was set with over 250 diamonds, with a large opal set in the centre and embossed with the young Prince’s royal seal.

The final £50,000 product was delivered to Prince Mishaal’s yacht at Cowes, where the young prince got to take it for its first spin on-deck. From Cowes, the yacht is set to sail to Saudi Arabia, where the £50,000 electric car will be taken to the Prince’s palatial summer residence to join the family fleet.
